Creative Arts Therapies: Promoting Wellness Across the Lifepan

Saturday, MARCH 24, 2012 8:30am-4:30pm

The 2012 New Jersey Creative Arts Therapies Association (NJCATA) Conference Sponsored by NJCATA & Healing Arts @ Atlantic Health System – www.atlantichealth.org/healingarts

Location: Morristown Medical Center Malcolm Forbes Amphitheater 100 Madison Avenue Morristown, NJ 07960

Don't miss this exciting opportunity to attend the NJ Coalition of Creative Arts Therapies (NJCATA) Conference, “Creative Arts Therapies – Promoting Wellness Across The Lifespan” to be held March 24, 2012.

The keynote “Journaling Cancer in Words & Images” will be delivered by Harriet Wadeson a pioneer in the field of creative arts therapies. As a participant you will have the unique experience of participating in a joint conference of creative arts therapies sponsored by the NJCATA and Healing Arts @ Atlantic Health System. The Conference will be held at Morristown Medical Center in beautiful Morristown, NJ in honor of Creative Arts Therapies month (March 2012).

The conference will explore the use of creative arts therapy with adults and children in multiple clinical settings; including hospitals, social service agencies, substance abuse treatment, and schools. In addition to the keynote, you may explore the use of creative arts therapies through hands-on workshops lead by professional creative arts therapists, and organized into interest tracks; including Creative Aging, End of Life Care, Specialized Populations and Professional Development. Over 20 workshop leaders will present perspectives of how the field has been used in clinical settings for the advancement and efficacy of treatment.

Creative Arts Therapy is the therapeutic use of art, music, dance or drama within a professional relationship, by people who experience illness, trauma, or challenges in living, and by people who seek personal development. Creative Arts Therapists are professionals trained both in the arts and therapy. They are knowledgeable about human development, psychological theories, clinical practice, spiritual, multicultural and artistic traditions, and the healing potential of artistic expression.
